How do I make a reservation?
To make a group reservation, please email SLCEducation@si.edu with the subject heading referring to the name of the workshop desired. In the email, please include name and size of group, interested dates, and contact information. Below is an outline of workshops provided (these are updated at the start of each academic year).

Arts/Humanities: Art for Social Change
This workshop explores the use of visual art and media as a vehicle for social change. The workshop highlights the Smithsonian's Division of Community Education of Puerto Rico collection (DIVEDCO) and presents an overview of WPA and DIVEDCO Posters and other visual media materials and their role in promoting social issues of the era. The hands-on activity underscores the theme and focuses on contemporary issues relevant to the students' lives and allows students to create their own visual media related to a contemporary social issue.

Arts/Sciences: Cultural Expressions 2010: The Science Behind Art and Contemporary Artists
Using art work that was highlighted in the Center's most recent exhibition Southern Identity: Contemporary Argentine Art, this workshop explores the principles and elements of design, the science of color and material, and basic artistic methods by comparing U.S., Argentine, and international artists. The hands-on activity allows for students to create their own contemporary art pieces incorporating the principles and methods discussed during the first segment of the workshop.
