BA Latin American Studies:  Spanish, Portuguese, Art History MA Journalism:  Editorial perspectives on immigration and labor in Arizona  and Sonora U. of Arizona Ph.D. in U.S. History; doctoral minor in Art History Area of Specialization:  Literary and visual narratives of national identity in spiritual communities, public sacro and secular theater, the regional press, ritual pageantry, and civic commemoration in Mexican America.

Conference papers on internal Orientalism; Hispanic theater; the Spanish  Discalced Carmelite priesthood in Arizona; the Spanish-language press, cultural factors of labor and immigration in the U.S. Borderlands; and visual markers of Mexico in the United States presented at the University of the Americas, Puebla; University of California, Berkeley; Universite de la Sorbonne and Institut Nacionale des Sciences Politiques, Paris; Universite du Havre, Le Havre; University of Arizona Mexican American Studies and Research Center. Current research activity:  developing an interdisciplinary models to quantify and analyze photographic imagery for demographic profiles of culturally-specific public performance.
