Guerra Vásquez is a self-described GuatemaLAngelino:
born in Guatemala City and raised there and in Los Angeles,
California. As a multi-disciplinary artist, Tavo has performed
in and organized several cultural events and has been featured
at events throughout the U.S. He has also worked as an Interpreter,
Youth and Family counselor and Elementary School teacher serving
predominantly Latino and Latina youth in Northern and Southern
California. His academic research focuses on cultural productions
and social movements in the Central American diasporas, particularly
those of Guatemalans and Salvadorans in the U.S. GusTavo is
a doctoral candidate at the University of California at Berkeley
in the Comparative Ethnic Studies program with a Designated
Emphasis in Women, Gender and Sexuality.
