Juan Flores, a well known scholar in the field of Puerto
Rican and Cultural Studies, has been teaching at the college
level since 1968, when he was named Assistant Professor in
the Department of German Studies at Stanford University. He
moved back to New York in 1975 and became Research Director
in the area of Cultural Studies at the Center for Puerto Rican
Studies (CUNY, now at Hunter College). He then took a position
as Associate Professor in the Sociology Department at Queens
College. In 1989 he transferred to the City College for one
year as Director of the International Studies Program, and
then as Full Professor (1992) in the Department of Latin American
and Hispanic Caribbean Studies.
