In 2020, Congress entrusted the Smithsonian with the monumental task of bringing to life the distinct kaleidoscope of U.S. Latino experiences and contributions within the fabric of American history. The inaugural strategic plan for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Latino is a pivotal milestone on this profound journey and the spark for many more firsts. Grounded in core values — collective caring, authenticity, accessibility, innovation, and collaboration — the strategic plan will guide the museum through 2029 and establish it as a transformative institution that will inform and shape the narrative of Latino identity and culture in the United States.
