Join the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Latino at the Crocker Art Museum for a free family festival that showcases the extraordinary talents and cultural contributions of the Latino community. Inspired by “Collidoscope: de la Torre Brothers Retro-Perspective,” the festival serves as a closing ceremony for the traveling exhibition and a celebration of the community!
Enjoy live performances from Mariachi Bonitas de Dinorah, Maya Latin Roots, Sol Peligro, and Lucha Libre Productions and creative art activities inspired by the de la Torre Brothers’ lenticular artworks. Guests can also view a community mural in the making, celebrate local artists, and catch a bumping lowrider show from the Sacramento Lowrider Commission. A series of mini-talks and docent-led tours of the exhibition showcase the binational and bicultural background of the artists, Jamex and Einar de la Torre, two brothers whose work connects to issues and ideas often explored in border and Chicano art.
Support for Collidoscope's national tour has been generously provided by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Latino. The National Museum of the American Latino is grateful for General Motors’ support of the Molina Family Latino Gallery’s General Motors Learning Lounge and its Learning Program.
