Transforming the Screen: The Power of Representation and Being Seen
Join us for an evening conversation exploring representation of Latino communities in the media. Panelists will discuss their efforts to champion first-voice representation on both ends of the camera, and why that effort matters. The program will feature experts, industry leaders and alumni of the National Museum of the American Latino’s Young Ambassadors Program (YAP), the museum's student leadership program fostering the next generation of community-conscious leaders. Panelists include Marissa Díaz, YAP 2008 alumna and award-winning writer, director, and producer, Carlos E. Hernandez, YAP 2006 alumnus and founder and president of IKIGAI Management, and actress Juliana Joel. Julie Ann Crommett, Founder and CEO of Collective Moxie, will moderate. The program will also present a special screening of Díaz’s short film, Fancy Florez’s Summer Staycation.
